Hayselden Group - a brief history
1959:
Company founded by Tom Hayselden at Wath upon Dearne in South Yorkshire.
Originally based on petrol sales, car servicing and repairs. Car sales followed
and our reputation for customer service begins to grow.
1961:
Successful application for a Volkswagen franchise. Hayselden enjoys
considerable success selling the Volkswagen and quickly becomes associated
with quality, reliability and value for money.
1963:
Tom's son Mike joins the family business.
1972:
Company branches out, buying an established Volkswagen car dealership in
Barnsley, South Yorkshire and takes on an Audi franchise.
1976:
Further expansion with acquisition of Volkswagen-Audi car dealership in
Doncaster.
1985:
Mike's son Mark joins the company.
1990:
Barnsley operation relocates having outgrown original facility.
1996:
Wath upon Dearne business transfers to Barnsley to create one of the UK's largest
Volkswagen dealerships.
1998:
New purpose-built Audi facility opens in Doncaster.
1999:
Complete redevelopment of Doncaster Volkswagen outlet.
2000:
Complete redevelopment of Barnsley Volkswagen outlet. Skoda franchise
opened in Doncaster and quickly establishes itself as one of the most successful
in the UK.
2003:
Prestige used car facility opens in Doncaster offering customers their dream car
at an affordable price. Launch of website covering all ranges to showcase our
car dealerships on the web.
